The Call Sheet / v10
Good Morning and thanks for checking in on this issue!
In starting this issue of the newsletter, I’d be remiss to not touch on whats been going on in my current home of Los Angeles. It seemed like every hour during the height of the fires in LA we were alerted about another dangerous fire popping up that would threaten another area of our city. I personally want to send a huge thank you to the brave men and women that fought those fires and responded to unprecedent needs for hour on end.
If you’d like to support those in need, please consider donating to any of the funds below:
RECOS:
A recurrent entry of this newsletter is a roundup of some folks I’ve loved having on projects, and the four below are all incredible creatives in their own rights:
DP/Director: Ismail Shallis
Creative Reps: Redeye
HMUA: Kessia Randolph
Catering: Beezoo
MEET THE CREW:
I love hearing from others on set about the what AND how behind what they do, so I’ve tagged in some fellow production friends for some quick hits:
This week, I reached out to Franca Park, a Wardrobe Stylist whose energy and skill that she brings to set is unparalleled.
What’s a short piece of advice for someone wanting to be in Production?
Don't take the unpaid stylist intern role. Chances are you don't want to work with a person who is exploiting your labor anyway. You CAN and WILL find paid gigs!
What’s a common misconception about what you do?
That wardrobe styling is a chill, easy job. It's actually SO much physical labor!
What inspires you about the folks you work with on set?
I love hearing people share their stories about how they got to where they are today. Each journey is unique, often shaped by big dreams and relentless determination! It’s especially inspiring to hear about those who take the leap, leaving behind stable 9-to-5 jobs to pursue something they’re truly passionate about and talented in. I always leave set with a new friend :)
What’re some “can’t live without” items you always bring to set?
An extra steamer - you never know when you need all hands on deck to speed steam some outfits.
If you could switch roles with anyone on set, who would it be?
Make up artist or hair stylists. I am so jealous of their compact kits. (*Cries in 45 suitcases and 63 Ikea bags*)
And with that, the Call Sheet has been sent. I’d love to have you join the crew, subscribe below to receive new posts. Thanks! :)
